MaliceMalice by Jennifer Jaynes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Short and sweet: I liked this book. It felt fresh and original, while still fitting nicely into the domestic psychological thriller box. Because duh, you know I am strictly against open mindedness when it comes to literature! No personal growth or diversity for this girl! Clearly I enjoy complaining how every book I read is the same, even though I purposely seek out books that explicitly warn me they are all going to be the same. Geez, don’t you know me at all?

But seriously - this is a solid read. It tackles the evil monster lurking under our beds, the American pharmaceutical industry of course! I don’t know if this author legitimately despises Big Pharma or wears the tin foil hat of a conspiracy theorist, but this storyline was certainly a depressingly realistic portrayal of the current state of affairs.

But don’t worry dear reader, there was still a fair amount of marital distress and “a killer twist you won’t see coming!” (to quote the one liner reviews on the inside covers of every novel in this genre - second only to “the next Gillian Flynn!”) to keep this one from falling too far into political commentary territory.
