The Stranger Inside (Strangers #4)The Stranger Inside by Jennifer Jaynes

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

It would appear that I am leveling up in the world of accurately predicting plotlines and big twists in these Kindle Unlimited audiobooks. Maybe these are part of the free library for a reason, but I had no issue knowing, I can’t even call it guessing with this one because I would venture to say I have never been more confident in anything in my entire life, what was going to happen and who the “bad guy” was within the first hour. It was a decent story (with the exception of the slightly absurd final chapters), but I never became fully invested because I felt no sense of dread or suspense or even mild curiosity. I was simply waiting for the scenarios I knew were going to occur play out.

It’s similar to when I was a kid and learned that my parents liked to hide my Christmas gifts in the trunk of the car. I’d sneakily pull the towel off that was covering them (I swear we weren’t hillbillies), sneak a peek, and then wait patiently until December 25 where I would feign surprise as I opened the presents I’d known about for a month.
