Look Behind You by Sibel HodgeMy rating: 1 of 5 stars
One of the most anticlimactic and uneventful books I have read. I had a whole seven paragraph breakdown of why this book isn't worth reading, but the Goodreads app unexpectedly closed out on me and I lost it. I'll take that as fate telling me this novel doesn't even deserve my detailed review.
Spoiler alert - or not really since this book pretty much lays it all out there in chapter 2, but then tries to take you down other paths as to not come off insanely predictable - the husband did it. He and all the doctors and police officers in this book are misogynistic cardboard cutouts, and the female lead is no better. There were literally no unexpected turns or anything of depth in this storyline. Just a bunch of unbelievable and way too convenient circumstances, and annoyingly repetitive internal thoughts by the main character. And the random red herrings designed to throw the reader off course but are never developed into anything worth while - just no.
Next time I am in the mood to waste my time, I'll just spend three hours staring at a blank piece of paper instead of reading another book by this author.
