The Winter Girl by Matt Marinovich

This book gets two stars ONLY because the first half had me hooked. It opened with a really unique premise, and despite the lackluster reviews, I held out hope that everyone was wrong because I genuinely liked the early chapters. However, the second half of this book was horrendous. I now understand every trash review. It was nonsensical, choppy, unbelievably stupid and how many more words can I use to describe what an utter load of diarrhea farts this “novel” ended up turning into?

Wow.

And I swear, I do like some books, despite all of my negative reviews on Goodreads. In fact I love many, many books. This is just not one of them.

This author should reconsider ever writing any additional novels because, just as I know and accept that I will never be a NBA star, he needs to realize he will likely never be a decent writer. He must have used up any and all of his creative talents coming up with the first 100 pages, because he couldn’t deliver anything additional. The story literally ends and nothing is resolved or explained (but not before some absolutely unnecessary father / daughter torture porn scenes! Score!). And I am okay with an open ending - when the storyline in question doesn’t take a hard left into “oh dear Lord this is bad - please make it stop” territory.

Praise all that is holy Christmas just happened and I received eight new books to immediately dive into to rid my mind of this massive dumpster fire of a novel. My advice - if you ignore my “do not read” warning on this one - stop reading halfway through, go eat Taco Bell, and then use the remaining pages as toilet paper.
